Introduction

Docter as a brand was born in 1991, but the company started writing its story much earlier. It was previously called Carl Zeiss Jena. In the 1980s, this was one of the largest optics manufacturing companies in the world. They started operating more than 100 years ago and built an impeccable reputation throughout the years. After World War II, the company started growing rapidly and bloomed until East and West Germany merged in 1991. This was when the first major change happened – the company was taken over by Bernhard Docter. Shockingly, the company bankrupted. Analytic Jena Group bought Docter in 1997, and the company started growing again. In 2018, a change in administration occurred. The company was renamed from Docter to Noblex. Most of the products remained in the offer but Noblex added some new ones as well. They retained the famous logo – the owl.

Throughout the years, Docter has been known to offer high-quality Made-in-Germany products for an affordable price. Because of that, the company gathered plenty of followers, loyal to the brand. Since 2018, when Noblex took over, the company expanded their manufacturing processes elsewhere.

Noblex retained the same name for some of the products from Docter’s offer while making minimal changes to the others. Docter V6, for example, was renamed to Noblex N6.

Docter/Noblex red dot sights

Noblex is a renowned manufacturer of open reflex red dot sights. They are constantly updating their offer in this field. Some of the most popular red dot sights that they manufacture are:

Docter came up with a unique footprint for their red dot sights – four notches, one in each corner. It is a simple and reliable solution, which is probably of one of the reasons why 80 % of open reflex sight manufacturing companies use the same footprint for their red dot sights. For this footprint, there are plenty of mounts on the market which makes finding a suitable mounting solution simple.

About the Series (Docter/Noblex Sight III)

Noblex Sight III is a highly popular series of open reflex red dot sights. There is a sensor below the lens in the front of the device, with the help of which the dot intensity is automatically regulated based on the ambient light. In contrast to the Sight 2+ and C, however, ‘III’ offers the possibility of switching between three operating modes, depending on the environmental brightness you use it in. ‘Minimal’ mode is perfect for low light conditions, while ‘Power’ is great in situations where strong illumination is needed. ‘Dynamic’ mode is a happy medium and is the one most commonly used. By pressing the magnet on the plastic cap (included) onto the ‘magnet sign’ on the dot for 3 seconds and then removing it quickly, you switch from one mode to another.

Noblex Sight III devices are ruggedly designed and can withstand the recoil of even the strongest calibers. A special gasket is included with the device. When mounting the sight, place the gasket between the mount and the adapter to achieve full waterproofness.

The battery compartment is on the bottom, which means that you will have to dismount the sight from the mounting platform in order to change the battery. It is of the standard CR2032 type.

The user can make windage and elevation adjustments with two corresponding screws on the device. Before making the adjustments, lock screws must be unscrewed. Zeroing is done with a scale disc. An included screwdriver has to be pushed through the opening on the disc in order to make the adjustments since the screws don’t produce any clicks when turned.

There are two versions on the market which differ in the size of the illuminated dot. The 3.5 MOA version is better for use on rifles while the 7 MOA version is a preferred choice of handgun users.

Only the black colour is available. Noblex sight III devices are made in Germany.
