Rubber coated, fully waterproof and featuring an integrated compass with a rangefinding reticle that enables you to estimate distances or the size of objects, of all the binoculars within the Fujinon FMT series, it is this model that most optimized for marine use. Although a strength is also their versatility as these binoculars are also great for other uses like astronomy, birding and hunting, especially in low light at medium to closer ranges like you find in forests or woods.
The 7x magnification is ideal for use out on the water for a number of reasons. Firstly, it makes it far easier to keep the image steady and shake free on rough or choppy water when compared to higher magnifications. It also facilitates the very wide field of view, which is perfect for scanning large open areas like you get when out at sea or on a lake.
At 50mm in diameter, the lenses are large enough so as to be able to collect a lot of light, which in combination with their high-quality optics and coatings that transmit 95% of the light ensures a bright, high-quality view even in bad weather and other poor light situations.

When it comes to optical properties, the Fujinon FMT series are definitely one of the best in the world. They are perfect for nighttime observations as they are incredibly bright due to Porro prism design and fully multi-coatings of EBC - Electron Beam Coating on all glass surfaces. These anti-reflection coatings also help to reduce glare and reflections and help with better color rendering, contrast and overall resolution. The glass is field flattening that eliminates the curvature of the field and provides extremely sharp images from edge to edge. FMT binoculars have individual focusing mechanism so you can easily adjust focus if you have differences in eyesight.

Fujinon gives 30 years of Warranty for FMT-SX and FMTR-SX binoculars. The company repairs or replaces damaged products without charge but only with the invoice as a proof of warranty. The warranty doesn’t cover the replacement of the wear parts such as rubber coatings, straps, and lens covers. It also doesn’t cover already repaired binoculars that weren’t approved by the manufacturer or in case of drops, fire, water, earthquakes, and other natural catastrophes.
