This is the extreme low light performer within the Yukon Point series as not only do these binoculars have large 56mm lenses that are able to capture more light but this in combination with the moderate 8x magnification produces an extremely large 7mm exit pupil. This means that the shaft of light exiting the ocular lenses is large enough to match the size of your eyes pupils even when they are fully dilated and thus are able to supply your eyes with enough light even in the very worst light conditions for you to perceive a bright image.
The slight downside to the larger lenses is that it makes for a slightly heavier and larger binocular. If this is a concern, you may wish to sacrifice some low light performance and opt for the small, more lightweight 8x42 Yukon Point instead.
The other advantage of the moderate 8x power is that it helps to maintain a reasonably wide view, which is good for scanning wide open areas as well as helping you to more quickly lock onto your subject at close range.
The 27mm of eye relief that these binoculars offer is simply excellent and definitely more than enough to ensure that those who wear glasses whilst using their binoculars are able to enjoy the full field of view.
At 3.5 meters, the close focus distance on this Yukon binocular is relatively long and thus this is not a good choice if you want to study objects at very close range.
