Whilst the smaller surface area of the 32mm objective lenses makes them less capable of capturing light than the larger models within the Vixen Ascot series, the advantage they have is that it results in a smaller and more lightweight instrument.
Thus rather than being outright astronomy binoculars, this model is more suited to terrestrial use during the daylight hours.
Like the 8x42 Ascot, these also have an extremely wide field of view. Thus offers the user a number of advantages, but in particular, it makes it easier to quickly locate your subject and then if it is fast and erratic moving, much easier to follow it.
It is these and many other features that make the 8x32 Ascot ideal for the nature lover, birder or wildlife observer who wants a more traditionally shaped binocular that is easy to carry about in the field and pack away and take on a camping or travel adventure.
A point worth mentioning is the relatively long minimum focus distance. At around 6 meters, it means that these are probably not the right binoculars for users who like to study things like butterflies from very close distances.
At 15mm, the eye relief is perfectly adequate for non-eyeglass wearers. However, if you do wear glasses, this may not be enough to ensure that you are able to achieve the full field of view after twisting down the eyecups. If this is a concern, the 18mm you get with the 8x42 Ascot may make them a better solution.
Vixen's Ascot Binocular Series consists of a selection of traditional looking, but very ergonomic Porro prism shaped instruments. With a definite focus on astronomy, the wide selection of sizes and magnifications as well as many other features like fully multi-coated optics, wide fields of view and good eye relief also put the Ascot series forward as a great choice in a wide range of terrestrial uses as well.
