Porro prism binoculars with a 7x50 configuration are a popular choice for bird watching, marine and astronomy uses, but will also perform really well whenever the available light is not ideal and your require a steady image with a wide field of view.

As well as helping to maintain a wide view, the use of a moderate 7x magnification enables you to more easily maintain a steady view, something that is critical when using a binocular on an unsteady platform like a boat. The fact that these binoculars are fully waterproof will also be of benefit in these situations.

The large 50mm objectives have the potential to capture a large amount of light. This potential is realised with the use of a quality, fully multi-coated optical pathway that ensures that as much of the captured light gets through to your eyes as possible for brighter, higher definition views.

If you also take into account the large 7 mm exit pupil generated by the 7x50 configuration, it means that even when the available light is very low and the pupils in your eyes are at maximum dilation, the shaft  of light supplied coming out of the eyepieces is large enough for it not to be a limitation in these demanding conditions.

These Vixen Foresta binoculars also have an ample amount of eye relief which ensures that even with eyeglasses, you have enough space to play with to position your eyes at the correct distance behind the ocular lenses to achieve the full image without black rings forming on the edges.

One weakness on these binoculars is their very long minimum focus distance of 10m. It is for this reason that these will not make a good option for uses like butterfly observation.
