About the company

Leupold is an American manufacturer of optics with a long tradition – the company was founded in 1907. It is still family owned as it was in the beginning. They produce optics for many organizations, including the United States Army, Navy Seals, Marine Corps etc. They have many popular products in the civilian market as well.

About the series

All riflescopes in this series feature a 3:1 zoom ratio erector system and a 1-inch tube diameter. They are very compact and lightweight. VX 2 riflescopes have a one-piece aluminum housing and are fully fog and waterproof. The lenses are fully multi-coated, which provides a good image quality and a better light transmission rate.

The VX is a series of hunting riflescopes with capped turrets and a hunting reticle. The reticle is set in the second focal plane (SFP), there is no illumination available. The clicks for the windage and elevation adjustment are in minutes of angle (1 click = 1/4 MOA). Some riflescopes in VX series have parallax fixed at 91 m, others have adjustable parallax – an adjustable ring on the objective lens. 

About the model (VX-2 4-12x40)

Leupold VX-2 4-12x40mm riflescope is a good choice for every hunter who seeks riflescope with a good optical performance but doesn't want to spend too much money on it. There are a couple of reticles to choose from: fine duplex, V-plex etc. The housing is made of one-piece matte black aluminum.

The parallax can't be adjusted, it is fixed at 90 m. The other VX II 4-12x40 AO model has an adjustable ring on the objective to set the parallax. Index Matched Lens System provides a bright image and sharp resolution. On the exterior of the lenses, DiamondCoat coatings are applied – these protect the riflescope in the most challenging terrain.

This scope’s specialty is CDS (Custom Dial System). The buyers of this duplex scope can inform the Leupold Custom Shop about the ballistics of their ammunition, and they will receive a free custom laser marked dial for their Leupold CDS riflescope.
