Docter Basic 1-4x24 is a perfect scope for drive hunts, battue or big game hunting on the Safaris. There is more than couple of really good reasons for that. Docter Basic 1-4x24 offers exceptional level of build quality and high mechanical robustness and is thus a great choice for mounting on powerful magnum calibers like .375 H&H or European classic for wild boar driven hunts - 9.3x62. The other very useful feature of this scope is the true 1x magnification which enables shooter to use both eye opened when aiming. This means that at 1x the shooter has the full natural field of view (of both eyes) and not only the field of view decelerated in the scopes specifications. Combined together with the day-bright illuminated dot in the reticule this scope can be used as a real "red dot" sight when set to magnification 1x. Target acquisition can be fast and aiming secure even in the most hectic situations.
Illumination system in Docter Basic scopes in highly sophisticated and technologically advanced, however at the same time it is easy to use and very reliable. Illuminated dot is situated in the second focal plane - SFP and the reticule bars are located in first focal plane - FFP. This enables that on lower magnification settings the dot appears bigger on the target and the bars are thinner. Perfect for close range shots in stressful situations very common on driven hunts. However on higher magnifications the dot appears smaller on the target and the reticule bars thicker. This enables precise shots when aiming on greater distances. Illumination intensity is controlled via rotating button (Docter Shiftcontrol) and has useful features like automatic turn-off function and low batter indication. It offers continuous intensity regulation from fine dim levels for low light use and up to day time brightens for use on battue.
Docter Basic 1-4x24 scope has to be mounted on a rifle with a 30 mm mounting rings.
