The powerful 12x magnification in combination with the large, but at the same time not huge 50mm objectives on this Yukon Solaris binocular makes them a good choice for those looking for a long range binocular that is not too big, too heavy or too powerful to carry about all day and then use from the hands without the need to attach to a tripod.
Ideal uses include hunting, wildlife observation as well as border patrol, security or search and rescue operations in wide open areas and over longer distances. These can also make a good choice for those who enjoy the occasional stargazing.
Being tripod adaptable you can also easily mount this binocular to a tripod using a standard adapter (not included) to get rock steady views which is great for stargazing as well as long periods of terrestrial observation or to observe the finest details of an object by eliminating image shake completely.
For non-eyeglass wearers, the 12mm of eye relief is sure to be adequate, however, for those who do wear glasses whilst using their binoculars, this model may not be the ideal choice. If this is a concern, you may be better with the 17mm that you get on the 10x50 Solaris.
The minimum focus distance on this 12x50 Solaris is a relatively long six meters and thus makes them unsuitable for very close range uses like butterfly observation.
