Steiner Wildlife XP 8x44

These Steiner Wildlife XP binoculars have an interesting and somewhat unconventional combination of a medium powered 8x magnification and larger than standard 44 mm objectives which produce a number of advantages to the user:

Firstly, their slightly larger lenses are able to capture more of the available light and in combination with the superior Steiner Ultra-HD-Optics system, these binoculars not only produce a brighter, higher quality view but also offer improved performance in low light conditions. This can clearly be demonstrated by their large 5.5mm exit pupil, which is larger than that which you get on your more standard 8x42 mm configuration.

One slight negative to using the larger lenses is that at 830g and with dimensions of 18.8cm x 12.6cm,  these binoculars are a little larger and heavier than your average 8x42mm alternative. But this difference is minimal and will only really be noticeable to those that really require a particularly small lightweight full-sized instrument.

At 133 meters wide, the field of view on these binoculars is excellent which has many benefits, including making it easier for you to quickly locate and then track fast moving objects like birds, especially at close range.

At just 2 meters away, the minimum close focus distance on the Steiner Wildlife XP 8x44 is also more than acceptable for this class of binocular and thus makes them a good choice for the occasional close range study of butterflies, dragonflies or flowers.
