Leica Geovid 8x56 R Details

Description of Leica Geovid R 8x56mm binoculars

The Leica Geovid R 8x56mm could very well be the perfect choice if you are looking for high end binoculars for use in low light conditions. Combining the superior optics, mechanics and laser rangefinder form Leica’s Geovid HD line, and adding an inclinometer and ballistic calculator, the Leica Geovid R 8x56mm represents a truly compact package and has an unmatched value for money. The highly capable laser ranglefinder can accurately measure distances from 10 up to 1300m away. Invisible and eye friendly, it is easy to use and displays the information on an internal LED display. It can be used in either single measurement mode for stationary targets or in scan mode for moving targets.

To ensure easy and accurate long range shots, all Geovid R binoculars come equipped with a ballistic calculator and inclinometer and the Geovid R 8x56mm is no different. A new, EHR function displays the equivalent horizontal range, while 12 different ballistic curves for different calibres and loads make these binoculars extremely easy to use and require no pre-programming or any previous knowledge of ballistics. The required compensation is displayed in either centimetres of drop, clicks in minutes of arc or miliradians or, if you have a Leica riflescope with the ASV ballistic turret, the position of the AS turret.

Optical performance of the Leica Geovid R 8x56mm is far from disappointing. Packed full of the latest technologies in the field of optics, such as fluorite HD glass and HDC multicoatings, the image of these binoculars is simply stunning. Crisp, razor sharp, high contrast, edge-to-edge clarity, true vivid colours, free of fringing are all standard with the Leica Geovid R 8x56mm. The ample, 8x magnification, gives plenty of detail while the broad field of view ensures easy scanning of the surrounding terrain. The massive, 56mm front objective lenses give, along with a superior light transmission rate, a bright image even when the light starts to fade, making these binoculars more or less perfect for low light scenarios.

Toughness and robustness is taken care of with a rubberised aluminium chassis, making the Leica Geovid R 8x56mm shock and impact proof. A tight seal prevents ingress of water, making these binoculars fully submersible down to 5m under water. Top quality of the internal, central focusing mechanism, prevents it from freezing even in temperatures as low as -25°C, and dry nitrogen purging helps prevent fogging. Along with the HDC coatings, which help prevent scratches, Leica also applies special AquaDura coatings to the outer lens surfaces. These coatings repel water and other particles, such as dirt and snow, and so give a clear image even when the weather gets rough. Further, the shape and excellent weight distribution make the Leica Geovid R 8x56mm very comfortable to handle, even for longer periods, while adjustable eye cups allow customisation of the eye relief. The Leica Geovid R 8x56mm binoculars come with a 5 year unconditional warranty.
